The policy is to fix things :-), and best report and negotiate with the 
upstream
folks.

If later other solutions are incooperated upstream, that's fine as well - we
probably notice quickly when a patch does not apply anymore.

Tested on my side as well:

== 12:38:15 =[1]=> Building filesystem/e2fsprogs [1.41.1 8.0-trunk].
== 09/07/08 12:39:29 =[1]=> Finished building package e2fsprogs.

Please go ahead and commit :-)
