[RFC] 7.0 RC2 on Monday, final in 14 days

Hi all,

the merge window for 7.0-rc2 is closing while imported and merged
the fixes for the showstopper bugs as we encounter them while
regression testing.

Please let us know of any other problem you might see in the 7.0
branch. We target a final 7.0 in 14 days, latest.
