Not if they use stock BIOS like Award, which 99% of PC manufacturers do
(make your own guesstimate). Those have supported USB boot for ages.
We have a 5-year-old Award BIOS PC that boots any USB 2 drive.

I do embedded work too. Crazy stuff happens in the embedded world. The
guy wanting a rescue USB is rescuing normal PCs, not embedded devices.
Those usually take specialized tools anyway. Unless they are PC/104
;-).

But anyone who looks for it can get still get embedded USB boot support,
e.g.,

"Booting from USB mass storage devices (sold seperately)" - they charge
xtra for it even, people must want it.
