Host name resolution: msg#00449sysutils.tivoli.tme10
Hi, We are running a polling daemon based on the netview OV libraries. These scan the netview database for a set of entries to poll and the establish snmp session to each ip address using OVsnmpOpen. The text version of the ip address is passed in to OVsnmpOpen and it does the resolution to an ip address. Everything works wonderfully accept that if I remove the hostname -> ip address mapping from the hosts file I would expect it to fail when it tries to resolve the address, but it carries on using the old address. All name resolution is done on the local machine. Does anyone know of any caches that are kept that it could be using or how I can clear them. This problem even seems to persist across a reboot of the machine. Many thanks Andy Pearce |
