[EC] TEC database parameters on SuSE Linux: msg#00584

Subject: [EC] TEC database parameters on SuSE Linux

I have SuSE 9.1 Professional (and I know it's not strictly supported), Framework 4.1.1 and I want to get to TEC 3.9 FP2.

I tried installing DB2 8.1 (as the TEC 3.9 FP2 release notes no longer include DB2 7.2 FP7 as supported). The DB2 install fails. Several hits on Google show that other folk have been down this route and that DB2 8.1 FP2 is NOT supported on SuSE - some indication that FP8 might work but nothing concrete. So, I went back to my trusty DB2 7.2 FP7 which installed fine.

I am using the TEC 3.9 FP2 Installation Wizard tree as I know there is an issue starting with base TEC 3.9 if you have Framework 4.1.1. Installing the TEC database, the install bombs out while reconnecting to the tec database after running the cr_db.db2 script with the message
"SQL0902C A system error (reason code = "") occurred".

Working through the lines that cr_db.db2 executes, the thing that seems to wreck it is the line that configures num_ioservers to 12. If I comment this out, everything runs sweetly.

I am NO database guru - does anyone know what is going on here? Using the command
db2 get db cfg for tec
tells me that num_ioservers seems to be set to 3 by default. I have tried setting it to 10 and it bombs.
Any insights appreciated!
Cheers,
Jane
