Subject: Re: Dual NICs on an Endpoint

Hey Lisa,

The problem your having is with your IP addresses. Your wireless is
serving you a different IP than your LAN. Try stopping and restarting your
endpoint after switching from LAN to wireless.

It also looks like you are switching between subnets when you make the
wireless connection. Make sure that your TMR and gateways are assessable
throughout your subnets with DNS.

We are experiencing problems with Tivoli Endpoints on laptops that have two
network cards (LAN and WIRELESS)… and my problem/question is I'm not sure
if Tivoli is working as should, or whether there are configuration options
available to help in this situation..

Here is what we are seeing:
An operator logs onto his laptop using his LAN network card, he opens his
Tivoli Desktop and uses Tivoli Remote Control without issue. He then
switches to the WIRELESS network card. The Tivoli Desktop receives the
following error and closes "The Tivoli Desktop has encountered a fatal
error or has lost its connection to the Tivoli server. The Desktop is
closing." Interestingly though, other applications that were also open,
e.g., Outlook, Internet Explorer, etc, remain active - they handle the
switch of Network cards without having to reload the clients. The operator
then re-loads his Tivoli Desktop and tries Remote Control, the target
machine says Yes to the RC request, but the following error is sent to the
operator "EQNSR0031E Unable to monitor remote host. The remote client was
not created. Ipc_create_new_remote_client failed: unable to connect to
172.22.50.155+9495: (67) FRWOG0047E IPC shutdown." Any if any further RC
requests are attempted to the target, the error is, the target is already
in session.

Does anyone know if Tivoli Endpoint be configured to handle the switching
of NICs ?

I have included some additional information below, the results of ipconfig
