Michael,
On a test win98 machine, try running
wmicore.exe from the command line passing it argument “/?”
wmicore.exe /?
Windows apps many times provide a response
that lists the install flags and one of them will be for a silent install.
If you get a silent install flag, then use
the user program object to install wmicore.exe passing it that flag.
Some additional configuring of the
software package will be necessary to handle error codes, and reboot
requirements appropriately.
It’s not a quick solution, testing and
tweaking will be necessary. But, hopefully, it’s a workable one.

I found that after I install the wmicore.exe
program provided by Microsoft.
The windows 98 endpoint can do it.
but the wmicore.exe is not a good choice for TCM
software distribution.
it is not a installshield format.
nor it is a mssetup format.
also I tried autopack technoligy to try get
a .spb file using Swdpe .
How can i get a good spb file
for hundreds of endpoint is windows 98.

level on the endpoint and post the failing error to the list. The process I
outlined earlier worked for the Windows 95 endpoints so I didn't investigate

But when i check "Scan file for header information " under
PC--->software-----&! gt;Scan for file information ---->Scan options
the distribute status is faled.
and endpoint screen will show that wscanner error
The TMA version is 41014
How can i do it ?

We've just been through a similar thing for one of our clients, only it was
for Win95 endpoints! The following worked for us:
1. install supported Win95 agent on local machine (371LCF020 worked for us)
2. Reboot Win95 endpoint
4. wepupgd Win95 endpoint to latest TMA version - you need this for CM 4.2.1
inventory scanner I believe
5. distribute inventory scan - do not enable DMI scan or it will fail

I found all endpoint running windows98 failed.
some endpoint running Windows XP succeful.
How to scan those pc running windows 98?
