Subject: [ITM] Access to user context on Win2K workstations - msg#00677

List: sysutils.tivoli.tme10

Date: Prev Next Index Thread: Prev Next Index
Hi list,

The aim here is to monitor a few resources on Win2K workstations. The problem
is that some of these resources are linked to user information (network drives,
mailbox, etc.). ITM runs as Administrator and hence cannot access the logged
user's HKCU part of the registry (event the User.dat file is locked and cannot
even be read!). Have some of you already encountered such a problem? The only
solution we can think of at the moment is building up a daemon which will act
as a 'gateway' between the user context and Tivoli agents, or switch to another
product which natively comes with such a gateway...

Any help/advice appreciated, regards,

Re: [TMF] [EP] Can epcheck feature be disabled at gateway?

No. It can't be disabled. There is a patch that is being worked on that will allow you to set the epcheck_interval to 0. I'd suggest setting epcheck_interval to 86,400 (1 day). Maybe this is large enough to allow you to do your analysis. I don't understand your statement about the GW incorrectly recording the endpoint status when there is a network outage. If the gateway tries to contact an endpoint and the network prevents this, it is likely to record endpoint as "unreachable", which is correct. What would you expect the function to do in those circumstances? Gary R. I would like to have it disabled but cannot find how to. Reason is that I suspect that GW incorrectly records wrong status of an endpoint if it has been temporarily (short time) off network during some method runtime. I'd like to set the epcheck to on/off to test this behavior. I am testing also to set ep check interval to low as possible but that may be too big a job for a GW to knock on all endpoints every 5 minutes... dunno. Any ep_check info is appreciated! thanks, Timo

RE: [TMF] [EP] Can epcheck feature be disabled at gateway?

My apologies Timo, I should have tried this myself before attempting to give you advice. Seems that the Ep status checking can only be set to a value between 300 and 14400 seconds. Hi Timo, Don't't know if this is what your looking for but to disable the Endpoint status checking facility by Gateways run the command: wgateway <gateway_name> set epcheck_interval 0 Do this for each of your Gateways.
