DM Numeric custom script monitor: msg#00636sysutils.tivoli.general
Hallo, > there is a difference between `cat file` and RESULT=`cat file` to follow up on this once again: this is an idiom often seen in perl scripts where people do not understand or ignore the warning message "useless use of a void constant". In perl this style of programming is harmless, but NOT IN SH. In perl this costs performance, but is not dangerous. perl collects all of the output in memory, then throws it away. The more economic style would then be using "system(xxx)" if you're not interested in the output, only in the exit code.
