Subject: RE: [TEC 39] Web Console

of course I am using the name of the server :)
The web page I get contain a reference to the web server so I know that
websphere is the one responding on that port. The problem seams to be with
the page I am trying to open.

What does "The web group /TecConsoleWeb has not been defined" means ?

Here is what I get with the serverStatus script:

serverStatus.sh -all
ADMU0116I: Tool information is being logged in file
/usr/WebSphere/AppServer/logs/serverStatus.log
ADMU0500I: Retrieving server status for all servers
ADMU0505I: Servers found in configuration:
ADMU0506I: Server name: server1
ADMU0508I: The Application Server "server1" is STARTED

Just to clarify, when you type the URL address you are using the physical
hostname of your server and not "servername". If your server was
"tecserver" then you would use that in the URL to launch the Web TEC
Console ( http://tecserver:9080/TecConsoleWeb). I learned lots yesterday
about the Websphere commands, what do you get when you type :

serverStatus.sh -all

I tried the same process to resolve the same issue on my server and now
websphere is started.
However when I try to connect to the web page (either
http://servername:9080/TecConsoleWeb or
http://servername:9080/admin/secure/logon.do), I get the same error on the
web page:

Virtual Host or Web Application Not Found
The web group /TecConsoleWeb has not been defined or The web group
/admin/secure/logon.do has not been defined
IBM WebSphere Application Server

Any ideas?

Thanks to all, the Web console is alive now. The server had been rebooted
and the WebSphere Application Server was not running. The "statusServer.sh
-all" command told me the name of the server then I ran startServer.sh
"Servername". I have launched the URL and the Web Console is alive. I
guess I need to put the startServer command in the /etc/inittab file to
restart the Application Server after a reboot. I have searched the Install
and Users Docs for TEC 39 and do not see anything that says you need to do
this. I would have thought it would have come up as part of the TEC
processes.

Thanks again.

Bryan,

Have you tried the 'serverStatus.sh -all' Websphere command to check server
status? This command is located in the WebSphere/AppServer/bin directory.

Can you bring up the Websphere admin console? It's usually at
http://<hostname>:9090/admin/secure/logon.do.

If you can get to the admin console, look under Applications/Enterprise
Applications for the TecConsoleEAR application. This should be in a
started status(represented by a green arrow).

In the admin console you can also browse Websphere error messages that
could give you clues on to what is causing the issue.

Thanks Ron, I checked and it was not running. Having started the http
server I can see 2 processes. The URL still will not launch.

Bryan,

Use the 'adminctl start admin http' command to start the IBM httpd server.
The adminctl command is located in the IBMHttpServer/bin directory.

Thanks for the help. Guess I should have also mentioned that this is an
AIX Server. The hostnames, DNS and /etc/hosts have not changed. I have
nslookup and pings using the hostname and it resolves no problems. In
looking for the httpd with (ps -ef and lssrc -a) I do not this running or
registered as a service that I can start. I did however find the httpd
that apparently Tivoli installed /opt/tools/tivoli/IBMHttpServer/bin/httpd
. Looking at a couple examples I tried to start, but no luck yet.

Check that httpd is running. Maybe a good idea to restart anyway.

Then restart Web console.

Good luck.

To all :

I am running Framework 4.1 FP2 and TEC 39 and trying to start the Web
Console. I have had this server up and running for about 3 months and the
Web Console worked at one time. This morning when trying to start the
console using the URL (http://servername:9080/TecConsoleWeb) all I get is
the page cannot be displayed error message. I am in the process of
searching the TME10 and IBM sites as well as Documentation. I am sure its
something easy that I am over looking.

Any ideas?
