Are you sure? I find the amount of change is always more than I would
have thought. For example, if you have many large mbox files full of
messages, just saving messages in a few of them means they all need to
be re-backed up.

And how big is your mail spool file? What about log files? Use a tool
like find(1) to look at all files that have been modified in the last
24 hours and the result may surprise you.
