As a diagnostic aid, you could try capturing the output from the crontab
commands into a log file.

Example:

@daily /usr/local/bin/rsnapshot -V daily >>/tmp/rsnapshot.log 2>&1

By the way, what is the "@" in "@daily" for?  I haven't seen that before.
