David,

Thank you for your reply. Yes I have checked each time, and neither rsync or rsnapshot processes are running.

Really has me puzzled. So based on my config and logs, it should work fine correct? If so, then at least I know I did the config correctly.

Thanks.

Steve

Steve,

Have you checked to ensure that rsync and rsnapshot are not still running
when you see this issue?

If you had an rsnapshot run that took more than 1 hour, you would get
error messages from the following rsnapshot saying the lock file is
still in place.

If that is the problem, you could try running your hourly backups every
2 hours (eg: 6 */2 * * *) or every 4 hours, instead of every 1 hour.

Or if it is only an occasional problem, just ignore it unless it keeps
happening a few times in a row.

Sorry for this long post, but I am copying my rsnapshot.conf and my
   log results.
Basically what happens is the sync stops working somewhere during the
process, its not consistent, meaning it may back up 2 servers, or 1
1/2, or every now and then all of them.
If I run rsnapshot from the command line, it always runs correctly, so
I am guessing its an issue when run from cron. Any ideas? Thanks.
   My cron job looks like:
   6 * * * * /usr/bin/perl -w /usr/local/bin/rsnapshot -V hourly
