Subject: /bin/cp: erroneous trailing slash?

Dear list!

Recently I get some strange errors while when I try to run my daily
backup:

/bin/cp: target `/root/sicherung/.snapshots/daily.1/' is not a
directory: No such file or directory
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
rsnapshot encountered an error! The program was invoked with these
options:
/usr/bin/rsnapshot daily
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
ERROR: /bin/cp failed. Perhaps this is not GNU cp?
ERROR: Error! cp_al("/root/sicherung/.snapshots/daily.0/",
"/root/sicherung/.snapshots/daily.1/")

I tried it myself then:

# /bin/cp
-al /root/sicherung/.snapshots/daily.0/ /root/sicherung/.snapshots/daily.1/
/bin/cp: target `/root/sicherung/.snapshots/daily.1/' is not a
directory: No such file or directory

does not work, but:

# /bin/cp
-al /root/sicherung/.snapshots/daily.0/ /root/sicherung/.snapshots/daily.1

does.

It seems that the trailing slash is wrong ^^

Thanks for any help on this...

regards
Roman
