--delete doesn't appear to be working

So I've recently uncommented rsync_long_args and applied --delete. 
However, the soft link that no longer exists on the client machine still 
throws an error when rsnapshot tries to chgrp it (as it follows the link 
to the non-existent path on the server).

Looking at daily.0 still shows the link!

What's the deal? I know rsync works, but why isn't this link being 
deleted? Am I missing something in how the linking works to simulate 
snapshots?
