Yes. Almost certainly the problem is that the config file has spaces between words. The config file should be changed to have tabs between words. I expect rsnapshot would have produced the following output: ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- rsnapshot encountered an error! The program was invoked with these options: /usr/bin/rsnapshot hourly ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- ERROR: /etc/rsnapshot.conf on line 176: ERROR: backup root@xxxxxxxxxxx:/var/www/ sancho/ ERROR: /etc/rsnapshot.conf on line 177: ERROR: backup root@xxxxxxxxxxx:/home/ sancho/ ERROR: --------------------------------------------------------------------- ERROR: Errors were found in /etc/rsnapshot.conf, ERROR: rsnapshot can not continue. If you think an entry looks right, make ERROR: sure you don't have spaces where only tabs should be. So rsnapshot is trying to give you a good clue in the last two lines. Since this was apparently not enough of a clue, I'll change rsnapshot to tell the user specifically when they have used spaces but not tabs. Would an error like this make it obvious (even to people who are not native English speakers) what the problem is? ERROR: /etc/rsnapshot.conf on line 176: missing tabs to separate words - change spaces to tabs. ERROR: backup root@xxxxxxxxxxx:/var/www/ sancho/ (This error would only appear if the line had no tabs, but had a space.) ___________________________________________________________________________ David Keegel <djk@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx> http://www.cyber.com.au/users/djk/ Cybersource P/L: Linux/Unix Systems Administration Consulting/Contracting Using Tomcat but need to do more?
