How well would this system work over a 2MBit link (cross campus link). Does NFS handle it well, many overheads etc? Need to try and reduce traffic as much as possible. Rsync has the ability to transfer portions of the file that have been altered. With the incremental system i'm not sure if this is being used, ie. copy file from full backup to incremental backup directory then rsync the changes to that file or whether it pulls the entire file again. If it it pulls the entire file again I guess there is no loss using tar and nfs. Going to trigger a full tar + nfs backup now (Local LAN only) see how it goes. Would still love an rsync related solution. Customisable rsynd command to not call SSH.
