Hi Michael,

please read the README.Debian in /usr/share/doc/backuppc. It has useful
information about how to use backuppc on your debian system.

The Debian package puts the config in /etc/backuppc and the data directory is
in /var/lib/backuppc. Because the path is hardencoded (you cannot run the
configure on your own in the debian package for backuppc) the easiest way in
debian to _move_ the datadir is to create a datadir anywhere you like and
then create a symlink from /var/lib/backuppc to the new datadir.

The default debian installation of backuppc is only useful for backing up via
smb.
If you plan to use rsync/rsyncd then this packages have to be installed:
rsync, libfile-rsyncp-perl.
