Faster compression: msg#00190sysutils.backup.backuppc.general
Our backup machine is an Athlon 1200; when 4 or 5 backups get running it does get fairly slow. http://www.aha.com/show_prod.php?id=30 These folks make a hardware GZIP compression card, but only in PCI-X format. Most people don't have PCI-X capable backup servers, I'm assuming :-) Would people be interested in trying to get them to produce a PCI version? Their PCI-X version will realtime gzip a 2Gbit stream; a PCI version wouldn't need to support anything near that to be super useful. -- Michael 'Moose' Dinn, Twisted Pair Network Consulting Incorporated dinn@xxxxxxxxxxxxxx // 902 423 4700 (voice) // support@xxxxxxxxxxxxxx ------------------------------------------------------- SF.Net email is sponsored by Shop4tech.com-Lowest price on Blank Media 100pk Sonic DVD-R 4x for only $29 -100pk Sonic DVD+R for only $33 Save 50% off Retail on Ink & Toner - Free Shipping and Free Gift. http://www.shop4tech.com/z/Inkjet_Cartridges/9_108_r285 _______________________________________________ BackupPC-users mailing list BackupPC-users@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx https://lists.sourceforge.net/lists/listinfo/backuppc-users http://backuppc.sourceforge.net/ |
