Hmm... Thanks for the quick response and suggestions...

Definitely there is only one host involved in this scenario (apache/backuppc on the same hardware), so that leaves me with the second option... I've verified that I can run perldoc Compress::Zlib when logged in as backuppc, and verified that the apache tasks are using that user (confirmed in httpd.conf, as well as looking at 'ps -ef')

So short of these, how can I verify that C::Z is installed in the appropriate way?
