garbled log files in the web admin tools?

I'm very close to having my system working, but am still stumbling when 
trying to review the logs.  I'm getting "compressed" data in raw form, 
not decompressed into human readable form...  This currently seems to be 
the only remaining issue with my system (backups/etc seem to be working 
properly).

Other items of note:
* perldoc Compress::Zlib  seems to work great, both as root and as my 
backuppc user account
* BackupPC_zcat   works great to uncompress the logs in question, again, 
works great as both root and backuppc user account
