Summary: Strange Battery Behavior

Initial Comment:
At my job, I use my Archos Jukebox Recorder 20
connected with the USB plug to listen to MP3's with
Winamp. I have it plugged in to AC also. In the evening
I like to listen to the Archos in the car on the way
home. I upgraded to 2.1 of the Rockbox firmware and
was reading through the manual and found the section
on batteries. I decided that since most of the time, I
use the Archos plugged in that I should use the deep-
discharge option and shut off the trickle-charger. This
worked great until the archos just shut off from low
batteries. I've come to find out, that it was not
charging. I switched deep-discharge off and trickle
charge back on and now everyother day, I have to just
leave it charging all day to get the battery back up. It
doesn't seem to charge when it is connected via USB.

I left it charging overnight last night and used it as
normal starting at 8:30 this morning. I wanted to check
on the battery at 13:30 and so I unplugged the ac
adapter. It showed empty for at least 20 min (empty).
It is now blinking at me that it is out of batteries, but is
still playing just fine.

I unplugged it and it says that I have 4% in just 5 hours,
with the ac plugged in.

Version 2.1

Update - I've been just plugging it in to turn it on at work (so
that it just uses the Rom image (Archos 1.26) and the
problem went away, so I think that the Rockbox firmware
doesn't handle charging in USB mode correctly.
