Since the Recorder has a bitmap LCD, could it display 
basic MPEG clips?

At the risk of being called cynical, there are 2 programs called 
avitoyuv and halftone that enables an .AVI file to be 
converted to a .rvf (rockbox video file). Me and midknight2k3 
have both tried it and it works. (You do need VirtualDub to 
resize the AVI file to 112x64 so it fits on the Recorder's 
screen). The only drawback is that there is no sound for the 
time being.
