In glade/*.c, do you want the #if 0'd code there?

Why is libgl now an .la instead of a .a?  (Apologies if this should be
obvious to someone who knows libtool; I haven't had to learn about libtool
yet.)

SPSS allows creating groups of variables for use in a GUI.  These groups are
saved as part of system files.  We haven't yet implemented system support for
these (nor do I know the precise format), which would also be necessary.
