Yep, that's probably a better explanation for the heavy usb hdd i/o.

Apparently pcfs reads the complete file allocation table into kernel
memory when the filesystem is mounted. For a FAT32 filesystem on a
large disk, the file allocation table can be quite large (several MB).

With an usb hdd connected to a an usb 1.1 port, this can take a while...

iSCSI on x86? (initiator and target support)

All, I have not seen this posted anywhere, so, I thought i would ask you folks. Does S10 have support for iSCSI as both an initiator as well as a target?
