I've noticed an odd problem with various builds. I first noticed it with Nevada
Build 33. When trying to install on a Toshiba Tecra M2 laptop, during
installation I get the following error :
"bzcat: Can't open input file /cdrom/Solaris_*/Tools/Boot/X.cpio.bz2: No such
file or directory"
then the installation continues...
Beginning system identification...
Searching for configuration file(s)...
etc, shortly after selecting hostname, timezone, root password and type of
installation I then get the following error message
"ERROR: The disc you inserted is not a Solaris OS CD/DVD"
and then it bombs out. Now originally, I assumed I was doing something wrong
with the burning of the DVD, so I tried various burning methods without success.
I then happened to try one of the DVD's on an Acer Ferrari laptop and it worked
fine, so I assumed it was something to do with the laptop. I eventually
narrowed it down to an option in the bios called configuration, this has two
options :
1) Setup by OS (which also sets PC Card to Auto-Selected)
2) All Devices (which sets PC Card to PCIC compatible - but lets me change it)
Now, build 33 works ok when I set the option to 1. However when I tried to
install SX build 36 I had to change it to 2.
Any idea why this is happening ?
I'm now trying to install build 36 on my Intel Imac using the Parallels Virtual
Machine software (which looks very good at first sight), and I'm getting the
same errors, of course under the Virtual Machine software I have no control
over these bios options - hence the question of why this is happening.
Thanks in advance
Richard
