Here's some documentation that one of the engineers who works for me wrote up
for what he went through trying to set up an elxl driver....

The bigger problem was in getting the NIC plumbed to be configured as Solaris
did not create device links for the NIC upon installation. A good portion of
the fix for this is found in the website
http://www.sun.drydog.com/faq/s86faq.html#6.7. Following the instructions in
this page, I rebooted the system, pressed âESCâ at the screen prior to boot-up
called the âDevice Configuration Assistantâ (presumably a Solaris-to-PC mapping
agent), scanned the systemâs hardware, found the Ethernet device, and wrote
down the hardware address of the NIC. I then booted the system back up, edited
the /boot/solaris/devicedb/master file, placing the information in there as
such:

âpci8086,103b.e11.12.81 pci8086,103b net pci iprb.bef âIntel Pro100/B
Fast Ethernet â custom entryâ

I also had to create an alias in the /etc/driver_aliases file as such:

âiprb âpci8086,103b.e11.12.81â

Then, touch /reconfigure and reboot the box. Upon restart, I attempted
to do a âifconfig iprb0 plumbâ and this time it worked perfectly, allowing me
to obtain an IP address via DHCP and put the box online.

Re: Install hang on whitebox Athlon system (nv22, nv23)

I just noticed in the release notes for the Beta of Update 1 that it says the minimum memory for X86 is now 256m. Am I getting caught because of the shared video memory? This message posted from opensolaris.org

Re: Interface setup help

That is very helpful. I will try this out when i get to the lab (my home). I also noticed that during the setup routine it attempted to setup my ethernet card, but failed.. i am guessing because it was looking for a dhcp server and i had none. This message posted from opensolaris.org
