BNAP, BNAP - Collecting Bluetooth Device Address information: msg#00009security.wireless
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 I've been spending more and more time lately working on various Bluetooth projects. One missing piece of information that would be extremely helpful is to know what the common Bluetooth Device Address (BD_ADDR, the Bluetooth MAC address) prefixes are. We know all vendors must register an OUI with the IEEE before using it to allocate MAC addresses to devices, but there is no reference of what OUI's are being used for specifically for Bluetooth devices. To help solve this problem, I'm asking for some help. I put together a quick application to collect and record BD_ADDR address information, and I'm hoping folks can take a few minutes and share the first three or four bytes of their BD_ADDR's, and optionally some vendor and part number information as well. The form is at: http://802.15ninja.net/bnapbnap/ It's my intention to make all the information that is submitted in the database completely open, and I've made the source code to this AJAX/PHP form available as well. You can browse the entries I've already submitted on the page, and as new entries are validated, they'll show up as well. Alternatively, if folks have logs from BTScanner [1] or the Windows BlueScanner (http://bluescanner.org, send me the "BlueScanner.dat" file), please send me a note off-list. I'll take any logs you can send me that have BD_ADDR information, really. Comments, questions, suggestions? Send me a note - jwright-iGNaCUDxsatBDgjK7y7TUQ@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx Thanks! - -Josh p.s. I can't make a web page look decent no matter how hard I try. Suggestions on how to spruce up the form are most welcome too. Thanks!
