MSN audio chat: msg#00205security.firewalls.smoothwall.general
Hello, I've been trying for weeks to get a smoothwall machine to be able to properly allow MSN's voice chat to function using IP masq modules. I have already patched the smoothwall with the 2.2.19 version of the ip_masq_mms.o to get it to allow file transfers both ways, but for the life of me cannot get any version of the ip_masq_h323.o file to work. I've tried the 2.2.19 version that is at the URL: #http://www.driesbessels.com/smoothwall.htm# but to no avail. I assume it *did* work at one time, before some of the more recent smoothwall patches were applied. I have tried the different versions (2.2.21 etc) of the masq modules both ways, with and without port forwards but with no real progress. I can't really tell where the problem is. Now the real question.... is there someone out there who is sucessfully using MSN's voice chat successfully from behind a smoothwall machine, and how did they do it? The person I set the smoothwall up for is very pleased with it's performance so far, but this seems to be one of the very last things that is just a thorn in my side. If you can help me in anyway, please contact me privately, as I'm sure this type of hacking on the smoothwall isn't appreciated in these types of mail lists. Any successful results I get I will document on a website, with the understanding that the people reading the site know the fix is to be used at their own risk, as hacks like that aren't supported. Thank you for your time, NeRP _______________________________________________ gpl mailing list gpl-3qm1DwK7mhYDqQkyQ9QLwTKGepjA8xN62LY78lusg7I@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx http://lists.smoothwallusers.org/mailman/listinfo/gpl SmoothWall Stash - Buy Our Stuff! http://cafepress.com/smoothwall
