NAT on the same interface: msg#00038security.firewalls.firestarter.user
Hi there. Is there a way I could get FS to provide NAT over the very same interface? I'd like to reuse an old PC, with no more than 1 pci-slot (a mini-atx MoBo), which is been used with an ethernet nic (and works well). It also has USB 1.0 ports, but the cablemodem I'm using has USB 2.0 interface, so I just can't get it to work with the CDT-Ethernet configuration via usbnet driver. So I was planning to connect: Cablemodem ----- hub ---- server (eth0 & eth0:0) |____ lan clients (via eth0:0) I know users cuold change manually their IP conf, but if they do so, then they could loose all the other services provided by the server (also a file & printing service), as well as the firewall protection. The text is somewhat confusing, I know, but I hope it is understandable... I've tried to do it with FS, but it doesn't shows the eth0:0 interface, so it claims no nat will be done... BTW: I'm already looking for a 2nic pci card, but I just can't locate any vendor nearby...
