ping probes from outside are blocked

Hi,
  I am using firestarter. I blocked pingprobes from
outside my computer long back by enabling ICMP
filtering. But now I want to allow others to ping my
machine. I removed the filter ICMP option from
firestarter but still I am not able to ping from
outside to my computer. I uninstalled firestarter and
reinstalled it.. but that did not help. please tell me
how to enable ping probes from outside. Thanks
