Neal, Thanks for pointing that out. I thought I had, in the past, run the Snowball system through with all the -pedantic -Wall and so on switches on, but if I did I certainly missed something! I'll repeat the experiment shortly using your switches, and make adjustments accordingly. Unused variables and labels occur of course because the code is machine generated, and I can't do much about them. It is encouraging that there are so few instances. I'll report back when the work is done, Martin
