Workflow Patterns Web Site now also provides CPN models of patterns: msg#00027science.mathematics.petri-nets
Dear Petri netters, Those interested in workflow theory and practice may be interested to learn that the Workflow Patterns Web Site has been thoroughly overhauled to bring it up to date with the latest research insights. This site, located at www.workflowpatterns.com, provides an independent source of information for the BPM/workflow community, both in academia and in industry, addressing fundamental notions underlying the specification and execution of workflows. The Workflow Patterns Web Site features patterns for the control-flow, data, and resource perspectives as well as exception handling patterns. For the control-flow, data and resource patterns illustrative animations are available. The original control-flow patterns have been revised and extended and for each of the new control-flow patterns a formalization in terms of a Colored Petri Net (CPN) has been provided to avoid ambiguities. Evaluations of a number of commercial offerings and process modeling languages in terms of the patterns can be accessed. The site also lists a report on "Patterns in Colored Petri Nets" showing typical design patterns that can be used when constructing Petri net models. Naturally, we welcome any suggestions for improvement of the www.workflowpatterns.com site. |
