I think you'd better completely redesign main page.

French Wikipedia has very nice main page,
with no language links on top, but in right half
in small font.
Polish adapted this design too, with a few changes.

English has similar design, but with less colors,
and with links both in right part and on top
(these links are completely unnecessary).
