Re: Searching Japanese corpora: msg#00153science.linguistics.corpora
Greetings, My thanks to everyone who took the time to respond to my question (Alexander Yeh, Asao Kojiro, Brett Reynolds, Brett Powley, Cyrus Shaoul, and Hiroaki Sato). It sounds like there are no specific query tools to accommodate searching Japanese corpora in the manner I envisioned, but that standard tools like grep are adequate. While searching across multiple scripts might be a problem in theory, in actual texts, the choice of scripts seems somewhat constrained (by sociolinguistic factors?), so maybe it's not such a big problem in the real world. Thanks again, and a Happy Christmas to all, Eric J. M. Smith Dept. of Linguistics University of Toronto |
