Uh, what about epoch promotion? Imagine this scenario:
(a) User has RH 9 system
(b) User installs new RPM 4.2.1 packages for RH 9
(c) User does not have mozilla packages installed, and tries to install
them (including the -devel packages)
IIRC step (c) will break because RPM 4.2.1 changed epoch promotion and
RH 9's mozilla packages weren't fixed until sometime afterward.
Lather, rinse, repeat for tons of other RH 9 packages, AFAIK.
(Now, if you meant 4.2-1 instead of 4.2.1, then this isn't an issue and
you can ignore this entire e-mail.)
