Subject: PCR1000 Sofrware - Bigger is Better. - msg#00016
List: recreation.radio.hardware.icom.pcr1000
Hi All.
Thought I would give my 2 cents worth on the PCR1000 programs
I have tested.
~ Icom v2.2 supplied software is ok but You can't resize the
components with no gaps to make 100% use out of your screen.
~ Talker PCR v2.996 By QROSOFT LTD: some very good features like
save the Radio cmos, But still can not resize the Radio for full
screen use.? And thoses STUPID REMINDERS/WARNINGS. You can't even
PAY THEM to make them go away.
~ Bonito Radio Com 4.5 - Universal Edition Demo.
Indeed, "You get what you pay for" $200.00 gets you the full
beautiful screen with all the bells and glamor, But I diden't seen
any way to save the Radios Cmos or RAM.. But if cost meens
nothing, this is my frist choice in software for the
PCR1000.
When it comes to Radio on My Screen. Bigger is Better.
Feed back any one? Thanks. Bill Hayes

RE: will PCR-1000 be replaces, others werent
Two years ago I ask if they were going to make a Ham transmitter to go with
the PCR-1000. I got the exact response that you did. "Keep watching our
web site for further news." Never did see any news on that topic.

Icom never replaced the R-9000 or the R-8500 and I
wonder if they will replace the PCR-1000, I sure hope
so. would love to see one with better DSP, better HF
performance, wider frequency range and wideband IF
output. If not will have to buy an AR-5000.

Re: will PCR-1000 be replaces, others werent
Well, for what its worth, I'm waiting for delivery of a slightly used
PCR-1000 with DSP to start developing a Pocket PC/Bluetooth interface
for it. It will probably be migrated into CTR-Remote
(www.lynovation.com) with a spectrum analyzer display.
I almost decided not to do this radio since it is going out of
production, but then I was reminded that I currently support several
other obsolete rigs so this one is no different.
My primary interest in getting the Pocket PC talking to the PCR-1000
is for mobile/portable RF system troubleshooting since there are
already plenty of good PC programs for this little gem.

Re: PCR1000 Sofrware - Bigger is Better.
Spectrum Commander by Signal Intelligence,
It is pricey, lacks an EPROM back up utility, but for general scanning I love it.
I love TalkPCR, but it slowed my computer down to a creep and it often
crashed after installing the patches to remove the nag reminder. I also
didn't like TalkPCR's method of bank selection and frequency editing.
But for the price ($49 or now free) it is really good software, better
than Icom's or many other third party wares.
My opinions only mind you.....On 9/4/05, William Hayes <hayes@xxxxxxxxxxx> wrote:
