Communications error when trying to backup EPROM?: msg#00007

Subject: Communications error when trying to backup EPROM?

I just picked up a used PCR-1000. It seems to
work fine, as far as I can tell (I'm using TalkPCR V2.99d).
Unfortunately, every time I try to back up the EPROM with
TalkPCR, I get a communications error, and the program
exits. I'm pretty certain this is not a TalkPCR problem,
sinc the same thing happens when I try to use the
BRU software package.

Does anyone have any idea what I'm doing wrong?

BTW, This is on Windows XP w/current updates, on an
Athlon 2600 CPU with plenty of memory. I've
tried changing the serial port handshake protocol to both
RTS/CTS and Hardware, and played around with the UART
buffer sizes, but nothing seems to help. I'd REALLY like
to get this critter backed up before I start experimenting....

-Thanks!-
