After all the cats with anemia these days I scared myself into making
a vet appt for Katie even though she's been fine. I started reading
and simone had mentioned feeling guilty about it being 6 weeks since
her last cbc. Katie hadn't been in for 3 months so then I started
feeling guilty.
The vet felt her intestines and said that the cancer has progressed
since she had her biopsy. She said there was no lymph node
involvment at that time but there definately is now. For obvious
reasons that has me concerned as Katie has been acting so happy I
thought she was in remission. I don't know if all the progression
happened in the time it took me to get her on Leukeran and the time
it took to work. Maybe now it's stopped? Hard to say. i asked if
maybe we should be more aggressive with the Leukeran. Then her CBC
results came back and her WBC was 5.5. My vet said that doesn't
really concern her all that much but if it gets any lower than that
she would be worried. She wants us to come back in a month to see
where it's at.
That # has me very concerned. I'm going to be upset if we have to
stop the leukeran especially since the cancer seems to be spreading
anyway.
Is a month to long to wait for a re-check? What signs should I be
looking for in low wbc?
Thanks!
Hugs,
Lori
