Re: Removal of Camper from Frame: msg#00905recreation.cars.toyota.campers
Most of the Toy motorhomes are built on a modified original frame, with frame extensions, floor supports, bracing, etc., welded in place. Removing the coach from the frame would be a difficult process at best, and a disaster at the worst. The most practical way to get such a unit shipped to you would probably be to cut the frame rails just behind the cab, and detach the coach from the rear cab wall and roof. The rear axle and springs would also be removed. A shipping bracket could then fabricated to support the roof overhang and hold the body up to prevent crushing the holding tanks. Once received, determining the best way to mount it on the "transplant" recipient would depend on what's needed to make it fit. The recipient truck should of course be capable of safely carrying the weight of the coach as well as providing a wide enough foot print for stability. Is your idea of doing this based on import restrictions for complete vehicles?
