Hi Dan
Your furnace I think should have a motor that drives a squirrel cage
fan on each end of it's shaft.
One end blows across the out side of the combustion chamber (inside
air) the other end force feeds outside the coach air into and out of
the combustion chamber through an exterior wall double tube set up.
This motor/fan should come on for a few 10s of seconds to clear the
inside of the chamber before the sparker starts firing. Some units
have a means of adjusting the amount of the forced air that is fed
into the gas/air burner.
