Subject: Re: Bike Paths or Towpaths next to the Canal.

The Towpaths here are built for the long distance bikers and are
also used by snowmobiles in the winter. Bikers and Boaters are two
distict groups. One is the bikers who going cross the country and
are usind the paths to get across New York nad stay off the busy
roads and the other are Boaters who go from town to town and lock to
lock. Some conflict happens when bikers want to use some of the
showers or the same faciltys as boaters.. The NY canal system is
built to acommidate both and markets it self to both. There is
little congestion as the system is 500 miles long and there is
plenty of room
