CO is lethal at levels of around 100 ppm and unless one goes out of the
way to do it efficiently, will be produced as a small admix in a larger
volume of CO2 from coal burning. CO2 is denser than air. Gases don't
spontaneously separate. If burning propane or butane, water vapour comes
into the equation too.

All this is irrelevant however, as most leaks of hot gas to the boat
will tend to be well mixed by convection currents and tend to rise.

Dominant effect, unless one can find a source of cold flue gas. Not
impossible, but less probable.
