install problems

Dear python,
  I've downloaded PyXML-0.8.4 to use with Inkscape (I followed the 
instructions in this program) , in order to save a drawing in DXF.

I tried to  install PyXML-0.8.4 on my computer,  but I didn't succeed. 
I don't have acces to the install assistant, or so.
I'm working with MacOs10.3.( panther).
How should the installation be done?
