Hmm.. I had a previous version installed which I *renamed* to avoid any 
confusion.
(I had installed the new version over the top of it  - so should be fine 
anyway, and *yes* the disutils.cfg file is in the right directory ...)

Below is the results - including running gcc to show that it is on the 
path :

Very odd..............
This is from my work machine - where I have gone through all the steps 
again....
This is the same result as I got on my home machine. (Python 2.3.3 at 
home - activestate 2.3.2 here at work).
