Well, when we say "test everything that could possibly break," or "write no code without a failing test," it quickly becomes clear that that instruction is a pointer in a direction, not an absolute. "Work in one-week cycles" may seem to some not to have that same property of pointing to an unattainable ideal. It might sound more like a specific goal. In addition, it may not be clear to some of the folks here that one week really is better than two, even as a goal. Or that one day or one hour might not be better still.
