Yes, that's right. There exist a lot of INF files and they all reference the
Windows Postscript Printer driver(s) from the Windows distribution(s), but
none that is specifically built for our purpose.
What I am working on is a PPD file that enables the user to control most
pdfwrite (Distiller) parameters from the printing user interface. Advanced
PDF options will most probably require a printer UI "plugin" to have them
interactively settable by the user.
Nevertheless is should be compatible with all platforms (Windows, Mac, *nix,
...) and with Adobes Distiller.

Thanks for the input. I've had a brief look at it.
The Ghostscript Brewery PPD will definitely have to handle more than the
DDAPv3.PPD does.
e.g. the DDAPv3.PPD only supports 2 (US) paper sizes whereas the the
Ghostscript Brewery PPD will support approx. 120
(ISO,JIS,US,ANSI,Extra,...).
Where I can see the DDAP specs fit in is a "DDAP job options" profile that
will automatically select the distillerparams according to the DDAP specs
with DDAP compatible media selectable by the user. This should produce DDAP
compatible PDFs.

How does that effect that fact that the 2000/ME/XP Postscript

The Adobe PS5 driver license specifically limits its usage to original
(Adobe licensed) PostScript printers (RIPs,Interpreters,...) and/or Adobe
Software. The Windows version doesn't ...
If you do know any place where it does, please let us know.

Yes, that's in the plans.

The PPD file must be
written from the PPD specification and not modified from an
existing PPD because we want to distribute it under the GPL and
AFPL licences.

We need to use the PostScript printer driver
supplied with Windows rather than the Adobe driver because the
latter is only licensed for use with Adobe applications or Adobe
printers.
How does that effect that fact that the 2000/ME/XP Postscript
driver is a joint development effort of MS and Adobe??
Some mechanism for setting PDF annotations would also be useful.
Do you also want to address the issues of a Word Macro to
generate the PDFMarks for things like links, bookmarks, etc. as done
by PDFMaker from Adobe?

extracting structure from office docs
hi,
regarding the extracting of document info from an
office doc, what would the info need to be extracted as. just as some kind of
text file, or would it need to be postscript and included in the file sent
through redmon. as for what would need to be extracted, i was
thinking:
contents/index (to build the
bookmarks)
subject
author
keywords
