Hear, hear. I have the same problem. I just want to set up one RedHat Linux
system to be the printer server (printer hooking up to the server's parallel
port), and the other Linux system to be a client sending print jobs to the
server. I used RedHat GUI tool to set up and share the printer on the server.
When I do http://localhost:631/printers on the client, the client does see the
printer on the server. I can even print a test page from here. However,
nothing happens when I print for real, no errors or anything.

The documents I read told me that the printer can be detected automatically by
the client system, which seems like my situation. Something is still missing.

Thank you
