Carbon From CUPS ?.

Hi,

I would like to launch an application which would monitor the progress of the printer job on MAC OS X, I would like to do this for every job, as of now I think CUPS Filter is the best place to do this,

1.Can I launch the Job monitoring application from else where other than the CUPS filter ?.
2.Can I launch the Job monitoring Carbon application from my CUPS filter ?.
