just to finish this thread off, I managed to get every thing to work. I
don't really know where the problem was, but I started again from the
beginning and now it is all working. I have added a few comments to the
wiki, making a few points I struggled with a bit clearer, e.g. booting the
new GPE image for the first time without a labrun file.
